Hurricane Restaurant, Ogunquit
Perkins Cove, (207) 646-6348
Moderate
Turn right off Route 1 North onto Shore Road. Go one mile, following signs to Perkins Cove. Park in the public lot and walk one block to the restaurant, on the north side of the cove.
You'll have a tough time deciding whether it's the splashy ocean view or the enticing menu that give the Hurricane its romantic ambience. Both delight the senses and the heart. Watch waves splash against the rocky coast while feasting on lobster gazpacho and crab Rangoon. The chef's commitment to the freshest and the best of everything? means the daily carte features numerous specials, delectable sauces, and the tastiest of meals. All this makes the Hurricane a busy spot year-round. Fortunately, the wait staff realizes that lovers? chats often flourish over Irish coffee, and you?ll never feel rushed.
The tiny bar, with its brick fireplace, is popular with the locals and gets crowded during cocktail hours, even earlier on rainy days. Parking next door is impossible, but there's a public lot one block away. Settle in with a sinful concoction called a Cove Cool-Adel (Bacardi, peppermint schnapps, and cranberry-lemon mix) and watch a Down East sunset. This is just the beginning of an unforgettable evening.
